In 1938, Nittobo became Japanfs first industrial producer of rock wool. Rock wool has several attractive properties that make it particularly suitable for a number of construction applications, including insulation and acoustic paneling.

Rock wool panels are also used in ceiling and wall panels for interior use, often for decorative purposes. We introduced our first series of interior decorating materials in the 1960s and have since become Japanfs leading manufacturer of noncombustible decorative rock wool ceiling panels.

We also offer a wide range of quality functional building materials that contribute to the creation of more comfortable home and work environments. In the future, we will focus on developing higher-value-added products, shifting our concentration from individual items to assembled products and systems. Efforts to promote energy conservation and the recycling of leftover building materials are also being increased.

Another focus of the Building Materials Division is the development of rock wool products for agricultural applications, such as Solamat, which is used for cultivating rice seedlings.

We also market Glaslite FRP lighting panels.
